Fridge Fun

Lately Grady gets a kick out of opening and slamming the fridge door. He will slam it, then watch the bottles of water on top teeter back and forth. Oh, how easily amused they are. ..

Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor

Grady had another ear infection today. We took him to the doctor and he referred us to an ear, nose and throat doctor here in the city. Poor little guy will probably have to get tubes in his ears to drain the fluid so that he doesn't get ear infections anymore. We have an initial appointment next Monday and I will keep you posted with what our next step will be.

Heading Home

The vacation was over and it was time to head home. We had a such a nice and relaxing time and couldn't have asked for more out of a vacation. We left after lunch and just in time for Grady's nap. While he took a nap we headed over to Cleveland to stay the night. In the morning we woke up and went to a nice little beach on the lake and cooled off before we drove the last half home.

New York: Day 4

Our last day in New York was a little relaxing in that we just hung around the house and took another visit to the creek Grady loved so much. He went straight to his "throwing rock spot" and did that exact thing for about 45 minutes. We finally had to tell him it was time to go so that he didn't have a sore arm the next day.

Earlier in the day, Laura and I went to see the movie Eclipse. We stayed up the night before until 2 a.m. so that I could catch up on the previous two movies of the saga. I loved it (and am now reading the books)!!

Day 3 Continued

While the boys were at the Baseball Hall of Fame, GiGi, Grady and I went to a little park just down the road. The lovely Limestone Creek was just along the outer limits of the park and Grady loved throwing rocks into its water. I loved all the greenery this area has to offer, just gorgeous!

New York: Day 3

We started out the day by getting a pool for Grady and filling it up with cold water since it was such a scorcher out. The men all went to the Baseball Hall of Fame while Grady, GiGi and I stayed home and hung out together. More pictures of Day 3 to come!

New York: Day 2

The second day in New York was gorgeous! Well, I suppose every single day was nice....especially since we were there during a heat wave!! We started the day out by visiting the Green Lakes Park which was beautiful! I was like a peaceful getaway with lovely green trees everywhere! Reminded me of a state park that would be in Washington. We spent some time in the water and headed out to grab some goodies for dinner. Later that night we enjoyed a BBQ of hot dogs and hamburgers.

Headed to PawPaw and GiGi's

After the zoo we headed straight for Kris's parents house (or PawPaw and GiGi). We arrived just before dinner time and relaxed a while in the front and back yard. They would have deer that visit at least twice a day and PawPaw and GiGi would buy deer corn and feed them morning and night. Grady helped with the feedings by throwing the deer some pieces of bread from the elevated porch.

Erie, PA Zoo

We stopped in Erie, PA our first night and stayed the next morning/afternoon to visit the local zoo. It was very quaint but had a decent amount of animals and entertainment. We first checked out the chickens and pigs then off to the polar bears and (loud) monkeys. Grady took a little break eating an ice cream sandwich. It was perfect treat for the summer heat. At the end of our visit, Grady and I went on a train ride that took a tour of the zoo and over a bridge to a secluded area of sheep and deer. The train ride was definitely Grady's favorite part!

Look at this baby monkey scaling the fence! Mama monkey soon came to his rescue.

Vacation to New York

This last week we drove to Kris's parents house to celebrate July 4th. They live in the beautiful upstate New York town of Manlius. As gorgeous as you would imagine; friendly people and beautiful scenery. I have a ton of pictures so I will be posting a few each day. This first batch is from our trip starting in Chicago and heading toward Erie, PA.

Car packed and ready to go!
